Another idea is to sell an online twenty point buyers check-list for each particular model vehicle. Buyers could even give this to their mechanic if they did not want to vet a vehicle themselves.
The idea is that this would complement but not replace an AA or similar check. It would include faults common to the particular car and a description of how these could be appraised or discovered. This would need to be a prioritised list so that the most common faults would come first or alternatively the most disastorous faults would be prioritsed.
There would need to be a space for a mechanic to make comments and an easy way to download and print off the list.
