Debtor organisation search is an "AND" search. This means that the search will return the financing statements that contain all the data entered in the search criteria. Using more than one search criteria will refine your search but may not return all financing statements listing the debtor. The only exception to the “AND” search is searching by entering both an incorporation number and the New Zealand Business Number (NZBN) where this type of search will return all financing statements that contain either of these numbers. Therefore, searching by entering both an incorporation number and NZBN returns all financing statements that contain either of these given numbers.
Important: Financing statements registered prior to 1 October 2018 may not contain NZBN. NZBN has been included in these migrated financing statements only where the debtor organisation name, the incorporation/registration number and the organisation type entered in the PPSR matched the details in the relevant register where the organisation is registered. Therefore, you could consider searching using the incorporation number or by searching on both the incorporation number and NZBN.
