    Vehicle Valuation

    Vehicle Valuation API will return some very basic vehicle details and a list of submodels with valuation information for each.

    Request

    <site>/a/vehicle:valuation?key=<Developer API Key>&plate=<Plate|VIN>

    Response

    The default response format is JSON. For XML add &f=xml to the request.

    Note: If CarJam does not have all the data to return or the data is outdated we will start fetching the data. While we are busy doing so we will reply with null response. Additionally, we will return Refresh: HTTP header for you to read. Refresh headers signals you how long to wait before attempting to do another request. If you don't want to read Refresh header please wait at least one second before coming back.

    Eventually, you will receive a response. It would look something like:

    Response Fields Explanation

    The valuation response includes several important fields that help understand the vehicle's current market value:

    Price Fields

    • newprice: The original retail price of the vehicle when it was new
    • dealer_current_price: The current sticker price that a dealer would list for this vehicle
    • dealer_current_price_kms: The dealer's price adjusted based on the vehicle's actual mileage compared to average mileage

    Mileage Fields

    • kms: The current mileage of the vehicle in kilometers, taken from the odometer reading
    • avg_kms_year: The average annual mileage in kilometers used as a benchmark for calculating the mileage-adjusted price

    Legacy Fields

    • dgest: This is the same as dealer_current_price (legacy field, will be deprecated)
    • dgest_kms: This is the same as dealer_current_price_kms (legacy field, will be deprecated)

    Note: The legacy fields (dgest and dgest_kms) are maintained for backward compatibility but will be deprecated in future versions. It's recommended to use the new field names (dealer_current_price and dealer_current_price_kms) in new implementations.
