💲 API Pricing
All prices are in New Zealand dollars per lookup, excluding GST. Every product listed here is yours to call at these prices as soon as your development connection is approved: there is nothing to add or ask for. A price agreed with us takes the place of the one listed.
Your development connection is non-resale if you use the data yourself, or resale if you pass it on: to businesses (the business market) or to the public (the consumer market). Say which when you apply for a development connection.
Resale is passing CarJam data on to anyone outside your business, whether you charge for it or give it away. Not sure? Ask us.
Pricing
The more of a component you use in a calendar month, the less it costs. Each band is charged at its own price, so the first lookups of the month always cost the first-band price; the figure between two prices is the number of lookups in a month the next band starts after. Past plates searched for money owing, vehicle not found and the products with no bands below have one price at any volume.

Notes:
- A call costs the sum of the components it asks for: basic, current owner, ownership history, RUC history and money owing, in any combination.
- Basic and ABCD vehicle information is answered from CarJam's cache for most vehicles; where the cache doesn't hold the vehicle, it is a live lookup. From cache:
- non-resale, basic costs the price less the 16c NZTA charge (at least 2c), and ABCD the price above, with 16c added on a live lookup;
- resale, basic and ABCD cost $0.09 in either market, and a call with basic in it costs the sum of its parts with basic at that price.
- Money owing is one PPSR check. In the vehicle queries API, each past plate searched as well (
ppsrh=1) is one more check at the money owing price. In the Reports API, money owing (ppsrf=1) searches the current and past plates for $3.40, or the money owing price where that is more. - A lookup that finds no vehicle costs 16c; a call that returns an error is free.
- Prices of the AU products follow the current exchange rate.
